Boris Vasilievich Spassky (Russian: Бори́с Васи́льевич Спа́сский) is a Russian chess Grandmaster. He was the World Chess Champion from 1969 to 1972, and twice won the Soviet Chess Championship.  He is the oldest living former World Champion, and is highly regarded for his role in the history of chess.
